Life

One day I stopped and assessed my life. I asked myself,

  • “Am I passionate about what I’m doing? No.
  • Do I like what I’m doing? No.
  • What’s missing? Passion, enjoyment, and meaning.
  • Then why am I still doing it? A paycheck, well that’s not a good enough reason. I can get a paycheck at another job. Even if it’s a smaller paycheck, wouldn’t it be better if I was doing something that my heart was fully in it? Yes!”

Oftentimes we get stuck in jobs we find “comfortable.” But is it really comfortable when we aren’t enjoying something that we are doing forty-plus hours a week? Not to mention, it might be negatively affecting other aspects of our life.

When I don’t feel that what I’m doing at work is making a positive impact I don’t feel worthwhile. I am also not growing professionally and personally and am not being pushed to my full potential. It’s unsettling to feel like you could be doing so much more.

So I’m faced with a decision. I could keep making excuses or actually do something about it. I have one chance at this particular life, and I want to make the most of it.

Forget yesterday, forget tomorrow, what am I going to do today? So ask yourself, what can you do today to help you live to your full potential? Start simple and keep it focused by starting with one building block. Overtime those building blocks could eventually become the empire you’ve always envisioned.

It doesn’t matter what everyone else thinks, just believe in yourself. My dad always told me, “Follow your heart and the money will follow.” Wise words from a wise man. Cheers to building your empire and following your heart!
